The incident occurred Tuesday on Beards Hill Road at the rail crossing in Aberdeen, according to the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
Volunteer firefighters and EMS crews from the Aberdeen Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene.
While the train struck the vehicle, no train cars were derailed.
Officials confirmed that Amtrak and Maryland Transit Administration MARC services were unaffected by the incident.
Beards Hill Road remains closed as crews continue their investigation and work to clear the scene.
Rail traffic on the CSX line was temporarily halted.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.
